Last night, Tesla, showcased its brand new all-electric semi-truck big-rig in front of an ecstatically positive crowd in Los Angeles, CA.
CEO Elon Musk officially introduced Tesla to the trucking industry with their new semi-truck. So some hot points for you to feast your eyes on;
- 500 miles of battery range
- Recharge up to 400 miles in 30 minutes
- 0-60 mph in five seconds without a trailer attached
- 0-60 mph in twenty seconds while hauling an 80,000 pound trailer
- No Clutch or Gears
Tesla claims its Semi “is more responsive, covers more miles than a diesel truck in the same amount of time, and more safely integrates with passenger car traffic.”
“The Tesla Semi requires no shifting or clutching for smooth acceleration and deceleration,” Tesla said in a statement, “and its regenerative braking gives it basically infinite brake life.”
Regenerative braking is a technology that enables electric and hybrid-electric vehicles to use the energy expended while braking to recharge their batteries.

“Overall, the Semi is more responsive, covers more miles than a diesel truck in the same amount of time, and more safely integrates with passenger car traffic,” Tesla added.
The Tesla Semi is expected to go into production in 2019 and after announcing they will be taking orders immediately, we’re told that they have already received their first order from a Michigan-based grocery chain.
